News - Volunteers' Week

Russell Dorling, the recently appointed Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling launched our new 'Shopping Companions' scheme during Volunteers Week, June 1-7, this year by accompanying  Mrs June Warnett to Waitrose in Tonbridge.

Shopping Companions assist people who are unable to use public transport and have difficulty managing their shopping.  They will drive clients to the supermarket, assist with the shopping, perhaps pushing a wheelchair around the store.  Shopping Companions will carry the shopping into the client’s home.

Volunteer Centre Managers, Alison and Barbara volunteered to show the boys of the 3rd Tonbridge Beaver Pack how to make Fathers' Day cards during Volunteers' Week.  They hope that other people will  join them to 'try something different'.
